Japanese Hornbeam (Carpinus Japonica)
Native to Japan the Japanese Hornbeam has elliptical, heavily veined leaves with a pointed tip that looks like a delicate painting. It is similar to the Korean Hornbeam but with longer narrower leaves and less twiggy growth. Has nice flowers in spring and smooth pink-grey fluted bark. The fall color is faintly orange to yellow and stands out in the landscape in the fall. Brown leaves often hang on the tree into the winter. Deciduous. Keep outdoors. 19 years old. 27″x22″x38″. Potted in a 12″ ceramic blue rectangle container as shown. Suitable 14.5″x10.5″ humidity tray is recommended.
